Dan Cohn is Energy Finance Analyst at the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial
Analysis. 

His research focuses on the role of the energy sector in financial markets, strategies
for institutional investors to navigate the global energy transition, and the economic impact of
hydrocarbon production in state and regional economies.

Previously, Dan focused on the U.S. coal mining industry. He worked on federal and state
regulatory policy, mineral leasing, and the community impacts of mining, with a specialization
in coal mine cleanup, financial assurance instruments and energy transition issues in Wyoming and Montana's Powder River Basin.

He has published numerous reports, been quoted in print and broadcast media, and has given
presentations to a wide variety of audiences. Dan has a bachelor's degree from Washington
University in St. Louis.
