Gaurav Upadhyay

Gaurav Upadhyay is Lead Energy Finance Specialist, India Just Transition, South Asia, IEEFA. He has over 12 years of experience implementing large-scale developmental initiatives in diverse sectors, including climate finance, just transition, and renewable energy. Previously, he was a Climate and Energy Consultant at the World Bank, where he worked to implement multi-sectoral lending and technical assistance projects. 

He has also worked with UNICEF, HP, GVK-EMRI, and others. Gaurav received the Prime Minister Rural Development (PMRD) Fellowship from the Union Ministry of Rural Development and represented the World Bank and other organisations at high-profile forums dedicated to addressing energy transition challenges. 

He holds Master’s degrees in Development Practices and in Disaster Management, both from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Rajasthan University.
