Russia’s invasion of Ukraine sent shockwaves through the global LNG market. Prices in Asia and Europe have skyrocketed, boosting the prospects for new LNG export facilities around the world. But is Europe’s demand sustainable? Are sky-high LNG prices forcing developing Asia to re-think new LNG projects? Are current market trends helping or hurting long-term growth of the LNG industry?

Swati Dsouza

Swati Dsouza is an energy analyst having over 8 years of energy sector experience focused on challenges to the fossil fuel transition in emerging economies. She is also associated with the IEA as the India lead analyst and coordinator Her research lies at the intersection of energy transition and climate policy. Previously, Swati created and led the climate programme at at National Foundation for India (NFI) with a focus on rural and marginalized communities.

Bruce Robertson

Energy Finance Analyst – Gas/LNG, Bruce Robertson has been an investment analyst, fund manager and professional investor for over 36 years. He has worked with Perpetual Trustees, UBS, Nippon Life Insurance and BT. He has appeared as an expert witness before a number of government enquiries into energy issues.

Grant Hauber

Grant provides energy and financial market analysis for IEEFA’s Asia Pacific team, with an emphasis on region’s emerging markets.  As a core member of IEEFA’s debt markets team, he provides insights to project finance, multilateral development institutions, and financing the energy transition. In the area of LNG, Grant supports IEEFA’s global fossils team to track market trends and impacts.
