Re: Draft 2025 Electricity Network Options Report

Thank you for the opportunity for the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA) to provide input to the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO)’s Draft 2025 Electricity Network Options Report.

IEEFA is an independent energy finance think tank that examines issues related to energy markets, trends and policies. The Institute’s mission is to accelerate the transition to a diverse, sustainable and profitable energy economy.

IEEFA thanks AEMO staff for the significant effort put into developing the Integrated System Plan (ISP). Our submission is focused on two areas: the potential for AEMO to consider a greater role of batteries in a higher transmission costs world; and comments on the distribution network costing methodology for AEMO to consider.

Kind regards,

Johanna Bowyer – Lead Analyst, Australian Electricity
Jay Gordon - Energy Finance Analyst, Australian Electricity
