Vaishnavi Varadarajan

Program Coordinator - Asia Pacific, International Accountability Project

 

Vaishnavi Varadarajan works as the Program Coordinator in Asia Pacific at the International Accountability Project. Over the past five years, Vaishnavi has been working towards supporting communities and civil society organisations in South Asia to access information on development finance through the Early Warning System to protect communities and defenders from harm due to large-scale energy and infrastructure projects, support them in documentation through community- led research, and reinforce their advocacy for community-led development. Vaishnavi has also worked on analyzing data trends on energy and climate finance through various data trackers put together by the Early Warning System, such as the Energy Finance Tracker and Transition Mineral Finance Tracker, to inform and strengthen advocacy on just energy transition globally.

Before IAP, Vaishnavi has worked with communities and movements across India on various issues, including housing and land rights, gender and climate justice, and advocating for the rights of mining-affected communities and labourers.

Vaishnavi has a Master's in Development Studies (Law, Policy and Governance Specialisation) from Azim Premji University and a Bachelor's in History from Ramjas College in Delhi University. 

In her free time, Vaishnavi loves to spend time in nature, learn more about trees and birds, and play with dogs and cats
