Alan Seemon is a Petrochemicals Analyst at IEEFA, where he examines the economic, financial and market dynamics of the petrochemical industry across India and South Asia. His work focuses on assessing the sector's growth trajectory, evaluating the economic and financial performance of key petrochemical actors, and analysing the implications for South Asia's transition away from fossil fuel dependence in alignment with climate commitments.
Before joining IEEFA, Alan worked as a Green Economy Consultant with the United Nations Environment Programme, where he developed the Sustainability Strategy Report for the PAGE India programme and contributed to circular economy policy research. He previously served as a Consultant in Economic Policy Group at Ernst &Young, advising governments, multilateral institutions and leading corporates on decarbonisation strategies, CCUS, carbon markets, and energy transition policy. Alan co-authored multiple reports and quarterly publications.
Alan was selected as one of 21 early-career researchers globally for the University of Warwick’s Sustainability Training Academy in Venice. He holds an M.A. in Financial Economics from the Madras School of Economics and a B.A. in Economics from Mahatma Gandhi University.
Outside work, Alan enjoys following geopolitics, reading, cooking, swimming, and exploring new
food, culture and places.
