The Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA) is seeking an experienced Editor and Copywriter to join our dynamic team in Asia. The candidate should have excellent editing, copywriting, and proofreading skills, and the ability to turn complex and technical language into cohesive narratives with key messaging.

The candidate should be driven, capable of independent work, adept at multitasking, prioritizing tasks, and adhering to deadlines without much supervision, all within a remote work setting. A strong dedication to IEEFA's mission to accelerate the transition to a diverse, sustainable, and profitable energy economy is essential.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Edit IEEFA content, such as reports, briefing notes, commentaries, fact sheets, letters, op-eds, and others as needed.
  • Help identify key messages, and write press releases and platform-specific content for IEEFA’s website and social media channels as required in an appropriate style and tone.
  • Support the communications team and sub-edit where required, and work closely with analysts who require writing support.
  • Collaborate with analysts to maintain the quality, structure, and accurate formatting (including research annotations) of IEEFA content.
  • Work with graphic designers to turn data and graphs into data stories.  
  • Update collaborative workflow platforms to keep track of project progress.
  • Assist with IEEFA events, webinars, and content upload to the IEEFA website.
  • Work closely with the Regional Communications Manager, Asia, to support impact strategies and monitor the performance outcomes of IEEFA’s work.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s education in Journalism, English or relevant experience as an editor or copywriter for five or more years, and on a technical subject matter.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially with Word and PowerPoint.
  • High-quality editing and writing skills with a knack for developing cohesive narratives and key messaging.
  • Understanding of publishing and project management, with the ability to work under pressure with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Comfortable with a remote work environment, including communications via Zoom calls.
  • Appreciation of cultural diversity and teamwork, with an openness to learning and collaboration with global colleagues.
  • Commitment to IEEFA’s mission to accelerate the transition to a diverse, sustainable, and profitable economy.

Compensation and Benefits

Full-time 12-month fixed-term employment contract with the option of extension by mutual agreement and a market competitive remuneration. Pay rates are also based on education, skill, experience level and internal equity.

Work Schedule

Full-time, 5 days/week with occasional evening or weekend work as required.

Travel

Some travel is required. All global team members attend IEEFA’s annual conference and international team retreat in the US.

Physical Demand and Work Environment

Must be able to work for prolonged periods at a computer. Computer work can involve repetitive motion, eyestrain, back, and neck strain.
