Pandemic highlights ability of state-owned companies to endure low prices

New Age Bangladesh:

The cabinet committee on national purchases on Thursday extended the tenure of the 35.5-megawatt rental power plant in Bhola for two more years.

The committee in a meeting also approved two tariff rates proposed by the Power Division to buy electricity from the rental power plant of the Venture Resources, a sister concern of the Sinha-Medlar Group.

In May, the US-based Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis reported that Bangladesh could use only 43 per cent of its power capacity, which was 19,630 MW in 2019.
