Ohio board approves 593 megawatts of capacity at four solar plants

The Ohio Power Siting Board on Nov. 18 approved separate applications to construct four solar projects with a combined capacity of 593 MW.

The projects include Invenergy LLC’s 275-MW Cadence Solar Energy Center in Union County, National Grid PLC’s 117-MW Sycamore Creek Solar Project in Wood County and 7X Energy Inc.’s 101-MW Juliet Energy Solar Project in Crawford County. The fourth is Macquarie Group Ltd. unit Savion LLC’s 100-MW Marion County Solar project in Marion County.

Cadence will cover approximately 1,925 acres within a 4,900-acre project area in the York, Liberty and Taylor townships. The project application (Case No. 20-1677-EL-BGN) was submitted by Invenergy affiliate Cadence Solar LLC.

Sycamore Creek will cover approximately 650 acres of an approximately 917-acre project site in Cranberry Township. The project application (Case No. 20-1762-EL-BGN) was submitted by Sycamore Creek Solar LLC, a subsidiary of National Grid PLC unit National Grid Renewables Development LLC.

Juliet will cover approximately 585 acres of an approximately 670-acre project area in Weston and Milton townships. The project application (Case No. 20-1760-EL-BGN) was submitted by Juliet Energy Project LLC, which is an indirect subsidiary of 7X Energy Inc.

Marion will cover approximately 724 acres of an approximately 970-acre project area in Marion Township. The project application (Case No. 21-0036-EL-BGN) was submitted by Marion County Solar Project LLC, a subsidiary of Savion.
