The Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA) is seeking an experienced Energy Analyst for a contracted consultant role based in India. This is a new role due to the continued expansion of IEEFA’s South Asia based team, which works collaboratively with IEEFA internationally and in the region across different research areas including the coal, gas, and electricity markets.
PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Energy Analyst conducts and disseminates economic and financial analysis to influence policies and investment in decarbonising India’s electricity sector and to accelerate the energy transition in India away from reliance on fossil fuels and toward the use of deflationary renewable energy.
The successful candidate will have deep knowledge of the electricity sector in India and South Asia, and must possess a commitment to IEEFA’s mission to accelerate the transition to a diverse, sustainable, and profitable energy economy. REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years’ relevant experience in finance, energy, engineering, or a related field.
- Comprehensive and progressive experience analyzing financial reporting, stocks, and investment portfolios.
- Expert understanding of finance, economics and quantitative analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and with good political judgment both orally and in writing.
- High degree of technological proficiency in Excel and the ability to learn new software and applications.
- Excellent writing skills demonstrated through publications, reports, and commentaries.
- Team-oriented with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Term and Schedule: Full time initial 12-month contract with the option of extension by mutual agreement. Renumeration based on experience.
