The Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis is seeking an Editor to support its work in the U.S., Canada, Europe and the Americas.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated editor to work with a global team of dedicated analysts who are monitoring and providing vital insight into the energy transition at the local, regional and national levels in North America, Europe and the Americas.

Key Responsibilities

The role calls for a talented editor to ensure the quality, accuracy and timeliness of content produced by our team of energy, finance and policy experts. The editor will be responsible for maintaining the quality and accurate formatting (including research annotations and tagging) of IEEFA content, including reports, analysis, commentary, blogs, testimony, fact sheets, letters, op‑eds and press releases. Responsibilities include:

• Ensuring the accuracy and quality of all IEEFA content in multiple formats and media
• Copy editing for grammar, syntax, punctuation and readability
• Making complex financial and economic information accessible to a wide audience
• Transforming compelling narratives into different formats and information products.

• Superlative editing and writing skills with a knack for streamlining cohesive narratives
• Strong research and fact-checking skills
• Excellent judgement and ability to highlight key findings in an accessible way
• Versatility, with the ability to tackle a wide range of subject matter and topic areas
• Exceptional proofreading skills and attention to detail
• Rapid turnaround in grasping detailed subject matter and delivering high-quality content
• Aptitude for transforming quantitative data into accessible visuals and content
• Diplomacy and the ability to provide constructive feedback with tact.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• Five or more years of editorial experience
• Experience conducting research and producing a wide variety of reports and collateral.

Preferred Qualifications

•  Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, journalism or a related field
• Comfortable with tables, charts, graphs and digital formats (Excel, Acrobat)
• Previous experience working with financial analysts or for a business, energy or environmental news outlet, nonprofit or research organization is helpful.
• Ideally, the candidate will be based in the Eastern U.S. time zone, although most projects can be completed remotely.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: The Editor will work remotely.  Must be able to work for prolonged periods at a computer. Computer work can involve repetitive motion, eyestrain, back and neck strain.

Hiring Range: $79,200 - $92,400
