GE Wind Turbine Orders Up 26% in 2014

General Electric reported 3,227 wind-turbine orders last year, a 26 percent increase over 2014. The company said 1,251 of those orders came in the fourth quarter, a 61 percent increase over the fourth quarter of 2013, and company executives said they expected sales to be up again in 2015.

Michael Copley of SNL Energy writes that the “results came as GE shifts its focus toward industry and infrastructure and away from operations such as financial services.”

Additional excerpts from Copley’s story:

  • “The U.S. Energy Information Administration anticipates about 11 GW of new wind installations in the U.S. this year.”
  • “GE wind turbine business also saw ‘significant growth’ in Latin America and the Middle East, as well as in China and India.”
  • “Project developers in the U..S. drove a sixfold increase in installed wind power capacity.”
