GE, E-energija to build first subsidy-free wind farm in Lithuania

Eesti Energia has inked a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Lithuanian wind developer E-energija for all electricity produced by the 70MW Telaiai wind farm. The 10-year PPA ends in 2032.

The wind farm, located in the Tryskiai region of west Lithuania, will begin commercial operations in 2022 and will produce 235 gigawatt-hours of clean electricity annually.

GE is co-sponsor of the Telaiai wind farm project and is supplying 13 of its 5.3MW Cypress wind turbines.

Telaiai will be the largest wind park in Lithuania in terms of electricity output.

Eesti Energia is regional developer of renewable energy through its subsidiary Enefit Green.

E-energija CEO Gediminas Uloza added: “We, as E-energija, are happy to be at the forefront of the renewable energy development and to sign the first significant PPA transaction in the Baltics. By building the first subsidy-free wind farm in the region, we open the door for the transition of the whole Baltic energy system, and we thank Eesti Energia for supporting our goals in these turbulent times.”
