Companies ask incentives to develop Rajasthan solar projects

RenewableWatch:

Adani Green Energy, Renew Power, Greenko, and JSW have requested special incentives from the state government to develop 34.2 GW of solar projects as well as a 2 GW component manufacturing facility in Rajasthan. The proposed projects are expected to bring in investments to the tune of Rs 1,500 billion in investments which include revenues of about Rs 100 billion to the government and also generate employment for over 16,000 people. While Adani, Renew Power, and Greenko have given a deadline of three to five years to commission the projects, JSW has requested a 10-year timeline. The four companies together have requested 80,000 hectares of government-owned land for the project.

According to a recent report by the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA), Rajasthan could key leadership role in India’s transition to a low-cost, low-emission, profitable electricity system. The state’s installed renewable energy capacity reached 9.6 GW at the end of the fiscal year 2019-20.
