FERC upholds LNG permits order for new import terminal

July 22, 2021

Caribbean News:

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission upheld its ruling that requires New Fortress Energy Inc. to apply for a permit for its liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal at the Port of San Juan, which was built and currently operates without complying with the federal Natural Gas Act (NGA), according to the regulator.

During a July 15 meeting, FERC denied a rehearing request the developer filed to the commission’s March 19 order that asserted jurisdiction over the import terminal, the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (Ieefa) reported.
