Energy Finance Training 2017


On Monday through Wednesday March 13-15, 2017 the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis and Columbia Law School will bring together environmental advocates and attorneys from around the world for a three-day training program in New York City. The conference will cover current developments in the coal, natural gas, renewable energy, and electric utility industries. It is designed to provide advocates and attorneys with the skills to understand and engage in the financial aspects of current debates on fossil fuels. Continuing Legal Education credit will be available for attorneys. The draft agenda can be found here.

All out-of-town participants and speakers are staying at the Hotel Beacon located at 2130 Broadway, at 75 Street. New York, NY 10023. Hotel accommodations for speakers, as well as attendees from non-profit organizations outside of the NYC area, will be arranged and paid for by IEEFA.


There will be a simple form to fill out in order to receive a travel scholarship. A flat $300 will be given to participants. If travel expenses were under $300, please indicate the lesser amount. Checks will be sent shortly after the conference, once your attendance is confirmed. A limited number of additional travel scholarships are available for international participants.


Columbia Law School is a 20 minute subway ride from Hotel Beacon. Allow 30 minutes door to door.  From Hotel Beacon- Head south on Broadway toward W 72nd Street Station. Take the 1 train at Broadway and 72 St, uptown towards Van Cortlandt Park – 242 St.  In 6 stops, get off at 116 St – Columbia University. Head northeast on Broadway toward W 116th St. Turn right at W 116th St (Columbia University).  Columbia Law School, Jerome Green Hall will be on the left on the corner of Amsterdam Ave and 116 St.
